Mike Gaffney
Michael P. Gaffney, a Co-Founder and Managing Director of EDG, brings over 10 years of private equity investing experience to the firm. Prior to the founding of EDG, Mr. Gaffney was a Partner at Allied Capital (NYSE: ALD), where he led the firm’s healthcare investment strategy. In this capacity, Mr. Gaffney focused on mezzanine and equity growth capital, buyout, and recapitalization investments in healthcare services, insurance services, and other health related companies. He was responsible for the sourcing, analysis, structuring, financing, oversight, and disposition of the majority of Allied’s healthcare investments. Prior to joining Allied, Mr. Gaffney was a consultant at McKinsey & Co., Inc. and a United States Navy Submarine Officer.
Mr. Gaffney previously served as Chairman and CEO of Caresite, a Director of Housecall and Sleepworks, Inc., a Director and the Interim CEO of HealthAspex, Inc., and a Director and Interim President of Physicians’ Specialty Corp. He was also a board observer on a number of Allied portfolio companies. He is currently the Chairman of Gemino Healthcare Finance, LLC and sits on the Board of HealthPro. Mr. Gaffney received a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts from Oxford University, where he was a Rhodes Scholar, and a Bachelor of Science from the United States Naval Academy, where he currently serves on the A&S Board of Trustees.
